FAQs

Q: How do I consign with Serenity Resale?

A: Consigning with us is easy. Fill out our Consignment Agreement and bring your pre-loved pieces to the shop at 101 Spring Street in downtown Ossining. We’ll review your inventory for acceptable consignments and you’ll get paid upon sale of your items.

Q: Do I need an appointment?

A: No appointment needed! We’re open Tuesday – Saturday from 11:30am to 5:30pm – just stop by the shop and we’ll review your pieces while you wait (usually about 10-20 minutes).

Q: What kinds of items do you accept?

A: We accept high-quality new and like-new clothes, shoes, bags and accessories for all ages. Items must be freshly laundered and free from any damages. We’re looking for seasonal and on-trend pieces as well as high-quality basics and classic workwear with a focus on natural fibers and sustainable materials (we love just about anything denim, linen, silk, or 100% cotton!). We generally value condition over brand and accept a wide range of labels, styles and sizes curated for both masculine and feminine aesthetics. Not sure if your pieces fit the bill? Give us a call, send us a text or swing by the shop and we’d be happy to take a look!

Q: How many items can I bring?

A: We currently have a 30 item limit per consignor per drop-off.

Q: How much will I earn when I consign with Serenity Resale?

A: Our consignors earn 40% of the pre-tax selling price for sold items. Items are placed on sale in our shop for a 60 day consignment period and are marked down 30% after the first 30 days. Storewide sales and discounts may apply.

Q: How do I get paid?

A: Consignor payments are made by check on the 15th of each month for sales made the prior month. Checks must be picked up in person at our shop at 101 Spring Street.

Q: What happens to my items after the 60 day consignment period? Will they be returned to me?

A: Unsold items become “expired” after the 60 day consignment period. If you’d like your expired pieces returned to you, arrangements must be made during the initial drop-off appointment and it is the consignor’s responsibility to collect expired items within 7 days of the end of the consignment period. Items that remain uncollected after 7 days of expiration will be forfeited to the store, donated, or recycled at the discretion of Serenity Resale. You can check your Consignor Account to see if you have any expired items that need to be picked up.

Q: Why shop secondhand?

A: Purchasing pre-owned is more than savvy shopping. Over 92 million tonnes of textile waste are generated each year, contributing to global clean water pollution, carbon emissions, and destruction of essential habitats and ecosystems. At Serenity Resale we believe conscious consumerism can still be stylish and we’ve made it our mission to inspire a passion for circular fashion and sustainable shopping. Let’s choose secondhand first and keep more textiles in the community and out of the landfill.
