Q: How do I consign with Serenity Resale?

A: New consignors MUST review our consignment policy and consignment agreement before coming to the shop. After reviewing our policy, bring your pre-loved pieces our shop at 101 Spring Street during our walk-in hours, or schedule an appointment for Friday/Saturday drop-offs. We’ll review your inventory for acceptable consignments and you’ll get paid once your items sell. Consignors must have a valid ID and be at least 18 years of age to start selling. Consignors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Read our full consignment policy here.

Q: Do I need an appointment to drop-off consignments?

A: No appointment is needed for drop-offs during our walk-in hours (dates coming soon!). For Friday and Saturday drop-offs you must schedule an appointment.

Q: What kinds of items do you accept?

A: We accept CASUAL and SEASONAL pre-owned clothes, shoes, bags and accessories for both masculine and feminine aesthetics. We are not a luxury consignment shop. We specialize in reselling everyday styles from mall brands to mid-tier labels. Items must be in excellent like-new condition. Before bringing your items in please make sure they are freshly washed, clean and free from any pet hair, odors, pilling, stains and damages. We’re looking for seasonal and on-trend pieces as well as high-quality basics with a focus on natural fibers and sustainable materials (linen, silk, 100% cotton, cashmere and wool). Q: Are there any items you do not take?

A: We do not accept: formal wear, business attire, gowns/event dresses, suits, blazers, swimwear, sleepwear, undergarments, socks, furniture, children’s clothes/shoes/toys, bedding, electronics, or bric-a-brac. Small homewares will be accepted on a very limited case-by-case basis. We will accept a limited amount of footwear, handbags and jewelry depending on current inventory and available shelf space.

Q: How many items can I bring? How often can I drop-off?

A: You may bring a maximum of 20 items per drop-off appointment. This keeps our intake efficient and keeps you from waiting when you come in to consign with us. There is no limit on how often you can drop-off consignments, however, we will become more selective towards the middle and end of each season as our racks fill up.

Q: How are items priced?

A: The majority of our inventory is priced between $5 and $35. We price items based on style, condition, material and current inventory. If you have pricing in mind for your items you must let us know at the time of drop-off.

Q: How much will I earn when I consign with Serenity Resale?

A: Consignors will earn 30% for items priced under $49.99 and 40% for items priced at or above $49.99. Items are placed on sale in our shop for a 60 day consignment period and may be marked down 30% after the first 30 days. Discounts and storewide sales may apply.

Q: How do I get paid?

A: Your consignor account will be funded upon sale of your items. You can use your balance as store credit to shop with us (and get an extra 10% off your purchase!), or you can pick up a payout check in person during business hours. Consignor payouts will be made out to the name on your consignor account. Please note that payouts cannot be mailed and cannot be processed via Venmo/Zelle/Paypal.

Q: What happens to my items after the 60 day consignment period? Will they be returned to me?

A: Unsold items become “expired” after the 60 day consignment period and can either be picked up by the consignor or donated to our shop. If you would like your expired items returned to you they MUST be picked up within 14 calendar days after the end of the consignment period. IMPORTANT: It is the sole responsibility of the Consignor to keep track of all expiration dates and to claim any expired items within the 14 day pickup window. Items that remain unclaimed after 14 calendar days of the end of the consignment period will be considered abandoned and will be forfeit to the store, resold as store stock, donated or recycled at the discretion of Serenity Resale with no notice given.

Q: How do I know when my expired items are ready for pick-up?

A: It is the Consignor’s responsibility to keep track of all expiration dates and to retrieve any expired items within the 14 day pickup window. To see if any of your items are ready for pickup, log in to your Consignor Account and check your “item list”. The current status of any item will be listed below the title of the item. Items ready for pick-up will be labeled as “To Be Returned”. You must email us at [email protected] to schedule your pickup.

Q: Why shop secondhand?

A: Purchasing pre-owned is more than savvy shopping. Over 92 million tonnes of textile waste are generated each year, contributing to global clean water pollution, carbon emissions, and destruction of essential habitats and ecosystems. At Serenity Resale we believe conscious consumerism can still be stylish and we’ve made it our mission to inspire a passion for circular fashion and sustainable shopping.
